Missionaries

Missionaries – What is a Missionary?

Missionaries are Christians or members of other religions who pass on their faith or do social work on behalf of mission societies - especially in poorer countries. In Christendom, missionaries have an important meaning. The apostles were the first Christian missionaries to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The basis for the preaching of the Gospel is the Great Commission, in which Jesus calls people to go out and make disciples. The biblical basis of mission is therefore to bring the Christian faith to all people and to proclaim to them the message that God loved people so much that He became a man himself in order to die for our sins. Although every Christian is called to evangelize, missions are often directed to specific individuals, groups, or areas. Missionaries are especially called to spread the Gospel in distant or poor countries.

Missionaries, through their lives and through charity, bring the Gospel to the place where God has called them and can be seen as a light in their immediate communities. The goal of missionaries is to bring unbelievers into contact with the Gospel and thus with the Christian faith.

Missionaries – What does the Bible say about Missionaries?

Various passages can be found in the Bible that speak of missionaries, their areas of responsibility and the importance of a missionary. For example, Isaiah 61:1 says that missionaries are called and authorized to bring good news to the poor and comfort to the brokenhearted. Romans 10:15 tells us that God has already given the order to proclaim God's message, because this was predicted in the Holy Scriptures. It is a glorious moment when a missionary comes with good news. Furthermore, in Matthew 9:37-38, Jesus talks about the fact that the harvest is great, but the laborers are few. Therefore, we should ask God to send out more workers who can bring in His harvest. Romans 10:13-14 in particular shows the importance of the work of missionaries in the Christian faith. There the Bible speaks of those who call on the name of the Lord being saved. However, people cannot cry out to God if they do not believe in Him, and they cannot find faith in Him if they have never heard of Him. It is therefore vital that missionaries proclaim God's message. In this way, people who have not yet heard the Gospel can be exposed to it and make a decision for salvation.

Missionaries – What does CfaN have to do with Missionaries?

CfaN is determined to do its part in the next few years to initiate the largest movement of worldwide evangelism in history. The vision of CfaN is for thousands of Christians to act as missionaries and preach the Gospel around the world until Jesus Christ returns. In addition, many new missionaries will be trained, equipped and sent out. This is moving CfaN towards their vision of seeing the greatest evangelistic campaigns of all time in the future and especially to reach a new level of evangelism in Africa.
